Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.
“For the first time in 75 years, Archie Comics is reintroducing their titular red-headed leading man to the masses with an all new rebooted “Archie #1,” which resets Riverdale in the 21st century with a new story by Mark Waid (“Daredevil”) and art by Fiona Staples (“Saga”). And dang, he looks like the sort of guy we’d totally love to hang out with now.”
Wait, Archie is hot now?? I don’t think I can deal with this.
“Drawing on the strong-men and -women archetypes in the Marvel and DC universes, and now in their 10th year, Al-Mutawa’s comic books have their own fleet of superheroes: an all-Islamic cast gifted with special powers embodying the 99 attributes of Allah – such as generosity, wisdom and strength – that are named in the Koran.”
This is interesting, especially given that he’s being sued for heresy in a Kuwaiti court.
“Image Comics, which publishes and distributes creator-owned works, is largely known for its mature titles like Saga, Sex Criminals and, of course, The Walking Dead. What you might not realize is that they’re also publishing all-ages titles.”
Did you know Image Comics is now publishing kids’ comics? Good stuff here!
