Our daily round-up of news around the comics space, from the gutters and beyond.
“Without the benefit of any media tie-ins, two Saga collections take up the #4 & #5 spots for the year. Another collection comes in at #12, and Volume 4, not released until near the end of the year, charts at #34. Another mainstream sales success, all the more remarkable for there not being a movie or television show, just comics that people want to read because they’ve heard they’re good comics.”
Comics Beat charts the bestselling graphic novels/volumes on Amazon for 2014, and for any fellow stats nerds, it’s really interesting to dig through what they’ve got here.
“Pratt, in full Star-Lord costume, lived up to his end of the bargain and visited Christopher’s Haven, a home for kids and their families battling cancer in Boston.”
Because I will never get sick of Chris Pratt being adorable and movie stars visiting hospitals in costume.
“There’s a Lego Christian Grey complete with drawn-on abs and brooding facial expression, and the shy Anastasia Steele, who learns about Grey’s ‘singular’ tastes. There is also a Lego ‘Red Room of Pain.'”
Okay, yes, it’s barely comics related, but because it’s Lego, I’m going with it: the trailer to Fifty Shades of Bricks, which is Fifty Shades of Grey done in Lego. We’re done here.
