In addition to comics, Paul thrills to Frank Capra and kaiju movies, crime fiction, TV dramas, professional wrestling, and whatever the Muppets are doing at any given time (hopefully in combination with those other things). He tweets as @fuzzytypewriter

“Global Frequency is part of the expansion of WBTV-DC Entertainment’s TV portfolio that started last year, following the success of Arrow on the CW. There were four WBTV-DC pilots last season, all four went to series. Two of the three that have debuted, Fox’s Gotham and the CW’s The Flash, are among the biggest hits of the fall and have already received full-season orders. There hasn’t been a decision yet on Constantine, on which O’Bannon is writing, and iZombie debuts in midseason.

“This development season, Global Frequency is joining WBTV’s Supergirl, which has a series commitment at CBS, and Lucifer, also based on a Vertigo property, which has a put pilot commitment at Fox.”

Jerry Bruckheimer is set to produce a TV series based on Warren Ellis’ Global Frequency, to be written by Rockne S. O’Bannon (Farscape, Defiance). [Deadline]

“…the bat has been used in Spanish heraldry since the 13th century, and is part of the coat of arms of Valencia and other cities in eastern Spain. Valencia C.F. has used bats in its club logo since 1919, two decades before the debut of the Dark Knight in Detective Comics #27.”

DC Comics feels that a Spanish football club’s logo is too similar to that of the-hero-who-never-sits, Batman. [Robot6]

“When we took this on, Cliff and I talked over if there was anything new we could do to this character that hadn’t been done before. “Do we have something to say?” basically. And we wouldn’t have done it if we didn’t have something to say about the character, and somewhere to take her. I think for too long, people have treated this character really preciously, and that leads to stagnation.

“Like, why is Batman so relevant? It’s because he gets reinvented, constantly. There are a lot of stories you can tell with that character. And there are a lot of stories you can tell with this character too – that was our approach.”

Brian Azzarello & Cliff Chiang talk about their recently concluded Wonder Woman run over on Comics Alliance.

And now, a rather smartly edited mashup of Guardians of the Galaxy and TV’s Friends. [ComicBookDotCom]
