5 Nobel Prize Acceptance Speeches From Some Literary Giants

In recent weeks, we’ve posted video guides to authors like William Faulkner and Seamus Heaney, which included their Nobel Prize acceptance speeches.  It’s pretty good listening. Since they announced the 2013 Nobel Prize Laureates this week – including the magnificent Alice Munro! – we thought it would be fun to take a look at the speeches of some other pretty impressive authors.

Toni Morrison – 1993 Nobel Lecture

John Steinbeck – 1962 Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech

J.M. Coetzee – “He and His Man” (Nobel Lecture)

Orhan Pamuk – Nobel Banquet (2006)

Ernest Hemingway’s Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech

And a few words from Alice Munro upon hearing that she was the winner on October 10:
