When their local library closed temporarily for renovation, students at Riga Technical University in Riga, Latvia built the Story Tower, a temporary place to house and discover books from the library’s collection. Built with reclaimed, local materials, the Story Tower has more than 2000 exterior shingles and is over 20 ft tall.
Only the bottom few layers have books, but the structure is as much a space as it is a library. Even the collection inside is temporary, with visitors encouraged to take and leave books as they visit.
