If I were a kid, my dream bookstore would look something like Kid’s Republic. Dozens of reading nooks of all different sizes and heights. Large, reachable shelves filled with attractive books. An undulating strip of carpet that loops and encircles the store, fit for running, sitting, and general merry-making.

This 1900 square-foot store in Beijing has an activity room on the first floor for readings and other events with the bookstore on the second floor. The store opened in 2008, and there are plans for other stores in major Chinese cities. Too, too cool.
