This super-nifty-sorta-sci-fi Italian library lives in Maranello in the Northern part of the country. It was built in 2009 after the architects won a design contest run by the municipality. The glass walls and surrounding waterscape give library patrons the feeling that the space is floating on water- an homage to the architect’s beliefs about sustainability and integration of buildings with the environment. The openness of the space is also a nod at the “openness” of reading and knowledge.
And they have fun chairs that look like cracked eggs.
