The time has come, the Walrus said, to vote on many things. Distract yourself from Very Important Political Elections by voting in the Goodreads Choice Awards 2012.

Nominated books are published from November 2011 through November 2012, and are selected based on the ratings and reviews of users given throughout the year. The selected books must be rated at or higher than 3.50 on average (users can also write-in books that meet these qualifications).

The opening round of voting is from October 30th through November 10th, followed by a semi-final round from November 12th through November 17th. The final round of voting is November 19th through November 27th, and winners are announced December 4th! The categories for winners include: fiction, mystery/thriller, historical fiction, sci-fi, romance, food and cookbooks, humor, poetry, graphic novels/comics, YA, picture books, among others.

Go forth and vote! It’s like the People’s Choice Awards, but without any Beiber. We’ll keep you updated as the voting progresses and eliminations are made.
