Bookish Birthdays :: Narnia

Per the request of one of our readers, we are offering some party planning help for a child’s birthday party today. What’s a birthday without a literary theme? A sad one, that’s what. And we don’t want any sad birthdays, so below you will find some fun ideas to get your creativity flowing so you can throw a rocking Narnia bash.

*****

Start with the invitations. You can order these, or create your own. Let people know the theme by incorporating the book (and if it’s a dress up party, you can even give them some ideas of which characters to come as).

*****

Print out copies of this map for the guests… roll them, put guests’ names on the string you use to tie them in place, and use them as seat or goodie bag markers. Don’t forget to decorate the front door of your house to look like an armoire that, oh – I don’t know- transports guests into a magical and exciting world? These maps can come in handy when you are trying to think of areas for different activities (and the guests can use them to “find” the different areas around the house and yard).

*****

If you aren’t super crafty with cakes, you can try to get a local baker to make something like this for the party. If you are a bit of a whiz in the kitchen – you can order this Narnia Bake Kit and make your own Narnia cake.

*****

Try these costume ears ($12.99 on Etsy) as party favors… or you can have a few on hand for guests who forgot to come dressed up!

Lastly, make sure there is plenty to eat and drink by testing out some Narnia recipes via the official cookbook (who knew?)!
